India and Germany have taken a major leap in deepening their defence partnership.

During high-level talks in New Delhi, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and his German counterpart reaffirmed defence cooperation as a key pillar of their 25-year strategic relationship.

The discussions covered co-development, co-production, emerging technologies, and expanding military-to-military engagements. Germany is set to participate in India’s major exercises Tarang Shakti and MILAN deploying Eurofighters and naval units alongside the Indian Armed Forces.

Germany also acknowledged India’s growing leadership as a First Responder and Net Security Provider in the Indian Ocean Region under the MAHASAGAR vision.

This marks a significant shift as Europe seeks new and reliable partners in the Indo-Pacific and India stands at the center of this evolving security landscape.
