Tata Steel has announced the loss of thousands of jobs at Port Talbot. This comes after years of warnings to the Tories that removing EU protections from British produced steel would leave the industry open to cheap imports from China and India. The government did not heed those warnings and now, not only is a town going to lost a huge part of its economy, but the UK is going to lose the capacity to manufacture a product if key strategic importance.
