An alarming thing I have heard about is happening in parts of Western China. It is called the “social credit system.” Similar to how a lender in America may look at someone’s credit score to determine their eligibility to get a loan, the government determines whether a citizen is in good standing or not based on their behavior in society. Thousands of ultra, high-definition cameras with facial recognition track everyone’s comings and goings, combined with Artificial Intelligence, government records, etc. produce an individual score for everyone. Based on their social credit score they may or may not be able to purchase a plane ticket, a high-speed train ticket, rent an apartment, etc. I have heard that there are already indications that this is being used against Christians to keep them from buying a home, getting hired at jobs, getting a college loan, etc.

This has put substantial social pressure on families to betray their own family members to avoid government penalties and maintain a good social credit score.

One U. S. political leader closely involved with this called it the “scariest development on the planet presently related to human rights violation and religious persecution.”

The prophet Micah and Jesus Himself foretold these days.

Do not trust in a friend; do not put your confidence in a companion; guard the doors of your mouth from her who lies in your bosom. For son dishonors father, daughter rises against her mother, daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; a man’s enemies are the men of his own household. Therefore I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me. (Micah 7:5-7)

Now brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death. And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end shall be saved. (Mark 13:12-13)
