In a collaborative operation between Limpopo police and the Hoedspruit Farmwatch, a CIT (Cash-in-Transit) heist was foiled, resulting in the death of four robbery suspects. Additionally, a highly sought-after Mozambican suspect, who had been evading authorities since 2022, was apprehended.
The incident unfolded on Wednesday in Limpopo when a group of fifteen armed robbers, wielding automatic rifles, carried out a CIT heist in Hoedspruit. Tragically, during the heist, the Fidelity driver lost his life.
Promptly alerted to the attack, local farmers in the area took action by blocking roads with large boulders. This decisive response triggered a shootout between the robbers and the farmers, resulting in the fatalities of four of the suspects and injuries to three others. Remarkably, none of the farmers sustained injuries during the exchange.
Upon investigation, the suspects were found in possession of suspected stolen money, as well as firearms, including a rifle and a pistol.
