‘We must do better’: Peter Dutton speaks out in support of defence veterans
Opposition Leader Peter Dutton says “despite the best of intent” the Australian Defence Force and Department of Veteran Affairs have “let people down”.
The Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide has delivered 122 critical recommendations to the government in a bid to tackle alarming suicide rates.
“I thank all of those who have been involved in providing evidence to the Royal Commission,” Mr Dutton said during parliamentary Question Time on Monday.
“We must do better into the future and provide support for those who serve us with great dignity.”
