“Don’t be surprised” if a representative from Truth Social reaches out to Twitter CEO Elon Musk asking him to buy Donald Trump’s social media platform, former White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney says.

Mr Mulvaney said Mr Musk’s reopening of the former US president’s Twitter account has put Mr Trump “in a real bind”.

“Why? Because he loves that big audience that would be available to him on Twitter .. but he also owns Truth Social and if he goes back on Twitter it probably kills Truth Social,” he told Sky News host James Morrow.

“So he’s torn between two things he really loves: a huge audience and great ratings, and money.”
