The group of officers will be operating 24 hours a day, as they deal with by-law transgressions, as well as assisting Metro Police and South Africa Police Service with crime prevention duties. 

Since the beginning of the year there have been a reported 44 murders in Bonteheuwel.  According to the City gang related crimes have increased because there is no police station in the area.
